Auto Gamer

I have heard of people using scripts and key mapping to get the upper hand in games, not cheats, just little tools to give them that last little edge over their competitor or the game AI.

This little trick on the other hand seems to be taking tools to a whole new level. US gamer (and car mechanic) David Harr decided to build a machine that would start and re-start Perfect Dark Zero (Xbox 360) and by doing so would gain him the required 60 points to unlock his next skill level.

Simple, and effective.. but is it cheating?

Largest graphics worm

Bluesfear an art and web development community is attempting to design the “Longest Page on the Internet” using a worm graphic designed by its community.

So to all the graphically inclined people out there, signup, make 50+ posts in their forums, and wait the five (5) odd months until your turn arrives in the queue to add your little piece to this record attempt.

Samsung - fastest Graphics chip

Samsung Electronics announced on Friday that it has increased the data transfer speed of the world’s fastest graphics memory (GDDR4 ) by two-thirds. This means that the semiconductor, telecommunication and  digital media company is again leading the way in manufacturing the fastest memory chips.

Using 80-nanometer production technology, the 4Gb/s (2.0GHz) is 66 percent faster than today’s fastest commercially available memory, a 2.4Gb/s GDDR4.

The chip, available in 512Mb density, has a 32-bit data bus and hopefully will be seen in the commercial arena by March 2008.

Sony not looking back

Sony in an effort to get the award for most mistakes made in releasing a new product ever, is planning on releasing a slightly different version of its new console, the PS3, in Europe this March.

The Euro version of the PS3 “will not play as many old games as American and Japanese models,” says the Japanese corporation.

This issue on its own would not be a large problem, but combined with the other setbacks (late releases, large price tag and bad publicity) that have plagued this console, I think it is just one setback too many for this console NOT to damage Sony… Badly.

Still Confused?

Net Neutrality is still a topic of discussion in the US, and I remember having trouble explaining the concept to co-workers and friends. This video (from savetheinternet.com) is the best explanation I have seen so far.

Conspiracy Theory

I recently upgraded my blog, and started using Wordpress for the new one. So to keep some sort of continuity between the old and new I reposted my initial views on the iPhone.

Here is where the conspiracy comes in: In the post I included a copy of the actual iPhone, but in Internet Explorer 7, the image never really fully loads. Now is it Microsoft not wanting the iPhone defiling it’s browser, or is it Apple preventing the iPhone from being displayed in an inferior browser?

What The?

Firefox displays the image fine

Next Gen Console Power Consumtions

If there weren’t enough comparisons online when deciding which next generation console you should buy, here is another one.

Carl Nelson over at Hard Core Ware posted the results of a Power Consumption test the performed using the PS3, XBox 360 and the Wii.

consumption of all three consoles and PC

Looks like the Wii is the best, just remember that it’s graphics capabilities are less than that of the other consoles.

Google Googe

Google loves making different versions of it’s logo for special events, like holidays and famous peoples birthdays.

This Valentines day, Google’s designer must have been pushed for time, with the wonderful, chocolate covered strawberry making it seem like the “L” in Google is missing.

Valentine Google

“Hey, just Googe it :P

BOL Photoshop Contest Winner

BOL winner Buzz out loud is one of the podcasts I listen to on a daily basis, it is one of the best computer tech podcasts on the Internet and Tom, Molly and Veronica, the hosts of the show, keep the show entertaining.

This February, BOL had a photoshop contest to get the best Photoshop rendition of the Buzz crew in different jobs (were they not in the tech industry). hundreds of people entered, but the winner (and I must agree) of the competition is Sandalous with his rendition of the Buzz crew in comic book form. Nice work.
